The Pacific Coast Bike Race is centered around one core principle: to cycle the entire length of the Pacific Coast as quickly as possible, from start to finish, in a solo and self-supported manner. Participants are expected to complete the race in a single, continuous stage with the clock running nonstop, and all attempts must be solo, self-supported, and self-timed. There are no mandatory checkpoints, rest periods, or finish time cut-offs. While family and friends are welcome to support riders along the route, they may only offer encouragement—no assistance with food, water, bike repairs, or shelter is allowed. Riders can ride together keeping a distance as to not gain an advantage, nor can another cyclist aid another cyclist unless it is an emergency. The race concludes when the rider reaches the finish line, having completed the challenge independently.
